Your own private retreat
This is a peaceful, private space reserved just for you. Spread out on the lawn, roll out a yoga mat, share a picnic, or simply sit with a coffee and enjoy the quiet countryside near Alexandra.

Meet the locals
Our Arapawa sheep are a rare New Zealand breed, curious, quirky and usually motivated by food. They add character to the property without ever intruding on your space.
Bottle-feeding happens from time to time. Volunteers always welcome… though we do not expect anyone up at 3am unless absolutely keen.

Our fallow deer
You may spot our fallow deer, some carrying a rare white recessive gene. They are not pets, but they will appear quickly if they hear a feed bucket. A beautiful part of the Central Otago landscape.

Morning magic
Sunrises here are something special. Watch the mist lift across the fields from the comfort of the railway carriage and ease gently into the day.

Evenings made simple
Local wine, wood-fired pizza and pétanque under the stars. No fuss. Just relaxed Central Otago living at your own pace.

Step out and explore Galloway –
Walk, cycle or drive. Everything begins right here in Galloway, near Alexandra.
Follow quiet country roads, big skies and ever-changing light. It is one of the reasons guests choose this Alexandra accommodation again and again.

Lower Manorburn Dam
Great for swimming, kayaking and summer dips. The rocky outcrops and wide-open views make it a classic Central Otago spot.
In winter, when temperatures stay consistently cold, the dam can freeze and becomes a much-loved local ice-skating area. Conditions vary from year to year, so it is always best to check locally before heading out, but when it happens, it is pure Central Otago magic.

The Manuherikia River
Moments away. Wander the riverbank, paddle your feet or sit and watch the water slide past. On warm days it is lovely for a quiet dip in the shallows – more for cooling off than proper swimming. If you’d like to know the best little spots to slip in safely, just ask and I’ll point you the right way.

Top of the Hill Lookout
A lovely uphill walk with big rewards at the top. It is not the shortest stroll, but the views across the valley make it worth every step. Perfect for a picnic or quiet moment with the camera. If walking is not your thing, you can also drive up and enjoy the view without the climb.
"We loved watching the deer, sheep, chickens and other wildlife (quails!), playing petanque and having BBQs. There is a sense of 'hiding out' - of time being 'suspended' - and yet being handy to town, the Rail Trail, places of interest and even the wider area, if you are wanting to get out and 'do'. "
